Seeds of this variety are often difficult to get. Golden Nugget is native to New Zealand and Australia and is often called Gold Nugget (piece of gold). In 1966, this variety got the award "All-America Selections Winner". In the meantime the form of the fruits has changed, they are more rounded and not drop-like anymore.
